Another experiment into creating a 2D/3D hybrid look in Zbrush. This time some fanart of one of my favourite characters from Genshin Impact and permanent party member in all my teams :)
I made a couple of matcaps while working on this, combined with SoMuchNPR to get the celshaded overlay.
Incase anyone is interested, I uploaded the matcaps. One is a simple matte material with outline, good for skin/hair/cloth, and the other was my attempt at trying to get a celshaded metallic look. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1cCBfqQLtVTd9MgMC99fYM2S9v0fbG4Eo?usp=sharing
Big thanks to Dan Eder and Dave Bolton for your advice on BPR filters!
I wanted to try working on a male character, not based on any 2D artwork in particular, but trying to do my own take. It was really challenging to get appealing colours - next time I should try to recreate concept art instead. It was also an opportunity to practice a cleaner modeling style that I've come to enjoy, working with very low-poly geo and creasing. However, it was still fun to sculpt some cloth folds when given the chance. Thanks for looking!
